WaKEENEY -- Prairie Faith Shared Ministry in conjunction with the Trego Arts Council presents an evening and an afternoon with Steve Parke.
More than 20 years ago, Parke began several pursuits, song writing and the study of Kansas ethnic cultural history, that have grown from disparate hobbies to interrelated, later-in-life vocations.
The weekend programs will include both endeavors on separate days.
On March 27, enjoy a 1970s country-rock sound of Americana music at 7 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 38 N. Seventh in WaKeeney. Parke will sing self-penned songs accompanied with finger-picking style of guitar playing.
On March 28, Parke will give a cultural history presentation at 2 p.m. at the church on "The Czechs of Kansas: Border Crossing Frontier Farmers and Then Some."
About 20 historic Kansas Czech settlements will be covered with photos, maps and foundational histories.
Each event is free and open to the public.
