Special to The Hays Daily News

JETMORE -- Jetmore and Hanston United Methodist Churches, along with other area churches, will host the 12th annual "Journey to Bethlemen" on Dec. 10 and 11.

The event will feature tours from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. each night. There will be tours for individuals with special needs from 5 to 5:30 p.m. each day.

The "Journey" takes visitors through first-century Bethlehem to experience the original Christmas. "Travelers" meet the wise men, census taker, tax collector, inn keepers, elders, shepherds and angels as they pass through the gates of Bethlehem. They will encounter a market place full of sights and sounds and culminate the journey by meeting Mary, Joseph and the Christ child.

Since the event began in 2000, approximately 10,000 visitors have experienced this incredible reenactment of the joy of the birth of Christ. Relax and begin your travel back in time as you share mint tea and cookies with a storyteller who will share information about the historical period and region. Then walk "Journey to Bethlehem" 2011 and gain a deeper understanding of the prophecies and events surrounding Christ's birth.

From 4 to 8 p.m., there will be a free-will donation dinner served by the Hodgeman County Business Boosters at Jetmore's King Center, located on the north end of Main Street. The proceeds will benefit a local scholarship fund.
