Nadine (Shields) Watson, 93, Hays, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Hays Good Samaritan Society.
She was born May 21, 1920, in Council Grove to Simon Peter and Pearl (Jacques) Shields. She was a graduate of Hamlin High School and Kansas State College of Agriculture and Applied Science.
She married James Howard Watson on Aug. 15, 1943, in Topeka. He preceded her in death Sept. 2, 2002. The couple moved to Atchison in 1948, where she helped her husband with his veterinary practice for more than 40 years.
She was a member of Atchison First Presbyterian Church, PEO and Kansas State University Alumni Association. She moved to Hays in 2005.
Survivors include her two daughters, Joanne Tramel and husband, Stephen, Hays, and Judy Marcoux and husband, Paul, Fort Collins, Colo.; six grandchildren, Peter Tramel and wife, Terri, Hays, Sarah Marvin and husband, Paul, Durham, N.C., Joel Tramel, Johnson City, Tenn., Nathan Tramel, Columbia, Mo., Amy Cornell and husband, Joshua, Fort Collins, and Jill Marcoux, Denver; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Selvin Edward Shields and Kenneth Duane Shields.
There will be a graveside service at the Watson family plot in Shawnee.
