Sandy Herrman, Hays, was chosen as the 2010 Daughter of the Year by members of Circle No. 254 at a recent meeting. She will be honored at the Mother Daughter Breakfast on Sunday at the Rose Garden, following 8 a.m. Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Veteran's pins also will be awarded for those members who joined the organization 50, 35, 25 and 15 years ago.
Herrman has been a member for 23 years and presently serves as regent of the local circle. In the past, she has had offices of vice regent, scribe, recording secretary and auditor. On many occasions, she serves as an honorary pallbearer upon the death of a member. Herrman is a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary parish
and serves on several ministerial commissions, a lector at Mass, Eucharistic Minister, and is an adorer in the Adoration Chapel on a weekly basis.
Herrman is an auxiliary volunteer at Hays Medical Center and president-elect of the volunteer executive board. Additionally, Herrman is president of the Women's Centennial Bowling League, serves on the board of directors of the USBC Association and member of the Thursday night bowling league, as well as a member of the Tuesday night Ladies Golf Association. Herrman was widowed in 2006. She is the mother of two sons and two grandchildren.
