Registration forms are now available for the annual Walk for a Grieving Heart, a benefit for Rachel's Vineyard Retreats, which will take place at 9 a.m. Feb. 14. There will be walks in three cities: Colby, Hays, Salina, Dodge City and Sharon Springs.

Those walking in Colby will meet at Sacred Heart Church, 585 N. French. In Hays, walkers will meet at the Center for Health Improvement, 2500 Canterbury. In Salina, walkers will meet at Sacred Heart School, 406 W. Iron. The course will consist of 2 miles.

Walkers in Dodge City will meet at the Village Square Mall, 2601 Central, and walkers in Sharon Springs should contact Virginia Popp at (785) 852-410.

Registration forms and pledge sheets can be obtained by contacting Donetta Robben, walk coordinator, (877) 447-4383 or rachelsvineyard@salinadiocese.org. Anyone wishing to obtain pledges, but is unable to attend the walk, can contact Robben, and she will find a replacement walker. All individuals collecting pledges of $50 or more will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt. There will be coffee, juice and donuts following the walk as well as door prizes.

Rachel's Vineyard Ministries consists of weekend retreats to help anyone affected by an abortion decision to find forgiveness, love, mercy and hope.

"Quite often there is grief -- deep and hidden grief that accompanies the loss of a child due to abortion," Robben, coordinator of Rachel's Vineyard, said. "This grief, accompanied by the guilt and shame of an abortion decision, often manifests itself through many self-destructive behaviors."

Rachel's Vineyard Retreats is designed by psychotherapist Theresa Burke and provides a secure and private environment where individuals can confront their loss, mourn, and begin the healing process.
