There is none so blind as those who will not see. Wow. That is certainly the truth. On Monday night, Rick Santorum and Howard Dean, both former presidential candidates, met for a debate on "government involvement" in Hays. Almost immediately, the abortion issue was raised by Howard Dean in his opening statement. Rick Santorum eventually addressed the same issue with the statement, "I know life begins at conception ... and science confirms this." Howard Dean's response was to say he did not believe that life begins at conception but rather, that it begins when it can be sustained outside the womb.
Now, tell me, how is it that Howard Dean, who previously practiced medicine, who took an oath to "do no harm," came to this conclusion, therefore, advocating a woman and her doctor's right to kill an innocent baby simply because the baby has not been allowed to stay in the womb long enough to survive? How can he say he believes in working for "the people" and "their rights" yet fails to see that all human life deserves to be fought for, as our Declaration of Independence clearly states? How does one become so defiant, so arrogant, so obstinate, that he could so easily deny the Hippocratic Oath that he took and the obvious truth before his very eyes? Spiritual blindness. That's how.
From the beginning of time, the world at large has always believed that life in the womb was, indeed, life. A baby. A human being with a soul. Despite Roe v. Wade and our 40-plus years of slaughtering our own children, the vast majority of people still believe the obvious. Scientific evidence now backs up the obvious, which Mr. Santorum pointed out in detail. From the moment of conception, when the fertilized ovum springs to life, it possesses its own unique DNA.
There is a video available on the internet called, "The Silent Scream" that shows the baby scream in pain when the abortionist attacks his little body. I challenge you -- if you are in doubt, look it up. The sight was so hideous and disturbing that the two physicians who witnessed it never performed another abortion again. How could Howard Dean, a former physician, be unaware of this? Come on, people, everyone knows, deep down inside, that the life a woman carries in her womb is a baby. It's not a dog, a moose, a chipmunk. (Yet sadly, many people would fight for the life of these animals, but not for the life of a baby.) No matter what stage, if the development is stopped, a human baby is killed. Period. Those like Howard Dean (Obama, Clinton, Pelosi, Sebelius, Biden ... my, my, it really is an epidemic) who choose to believe otherwise, who fight for a woman's right to murder her child, or simply look the other way, have become infected with a disease called spiritual blindness. Selfishness, ignorance, fear and greed have now become primary sources of this infection. Immorality and apathy greatly aid in the spread of this deadly disease.
If Howard Dean truly cared about women as he claims, he would make every attempt to stop them from doing something that harms their body, mind, spirit and soul -- the evidence is there for anyone who has eyes to see. Sadly, this disease of the soul has skewed Dean's thinking and caused his heart to grow cold. Christ, the great healer, the great physician, shows us a different way. His life reflected just the opposite of Howard Dean's philosophy. He came that we may have life, and have it abundantly. (John 10:10) Christ lay down his very life for all -- including you, me and Howard Dean. Still, Christ's sacrificial love is rejected by many.
In light of God's truth, I cannot and will not trust the overall judgment of any man/woman who refuses to acknowledge the scientific truth, but more importantly, the basic, fundamental truth that God is the Creator of all -- the giver and taker of life. If you can't call a baby a baby, and a murder a murder, I don't trust your judgment. You have fuzzy thinking -- a symptom of spiritual blindness. With all sincerity of heart, I pray that God, in his goodness and mercy, will lead all those who have been infected, to repentance and true healing.
"Hear this, O foolish and senseless people, who have eyes, but see not, who have ears, but hear not. Do you not fear me? says the Lord; Do you not tremble before me? ... But this people has a stubborn and rebellious heart." Jeremiah 5: 21-23
