The Hays Larks are 1-2 in their home series against the Derby Twins. With a week left in the standings, Hays is in a three-way tie for second place. Haysville leads the Jayhawk League, while Hays, Liberal and Derby are tied at 18-14. Hays finishes with a game against Derby tonight and versus Dodge City on Wednesday. Both games are 7 p.m. at Larks Park.

Hays lost the first game of the series Saturday, 8-1, then split Sunday's doubleheader, winning 7-6, and 4-1. The Larks are 26-16 for the season.

In Saturday's game, Andy Lewton took the loss when he worked six innings and allowed eight hits and five runs (three earned). Derby scored one in the second, four in the fourth and three in the seventh and finished with 14 hits. Hays had seven hits, none for extra bases. Brandon Dixon went 1-for-3 with the team's lone RBI.

In Sunday's doubleheader, Hays won the first game when Sean Wilson went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Aaron Cornell finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Andrew Heck (1-1) earned the win, pitching six innings and allowing nine hits with six runs (five earned). Michael Burchett earned the save. Hays scored the game-winning run in the top of the seventh. Jon Ryan singled and Tito Andino came into pinch run. He advanced to second on a sacrifice, stole third and scored on a wild pitch.

In Sunday's nightcap, Nick Goza, normally a reliever, started for four innings. He allowed six hits and four runs.
