The city of Hays has released a statement asking for cooperation as crews continue to clear streets due to the recent storm.
Residents are asked not to plow or dump snow from their property onto city streets. This practice leaves large mounds of snow, which shinders the cleanup process. Leaving large piles of snow in the street also creates problems for neighbors and motorists. Discarded piles of snow from properties add to the accumulation caused by city plows, which is unavoidable.
The city of Hays asks residents and businesses keep all snow on their property. Snow piled on grass, flower beds and around trees and shrubs will saturate the soil when it melts. This moisture is important, given the continued drought conditions.
