The Hays Larks moved to 2-0 on the season Saturday at Larks Park, handing the Denver Cougars a 9-1 loss in Game 2 of their three-game series.

Patrick Flanagan picked up the win for Hays in four innings of a team-pitched game. He allowed no runs on two hits with five strikeouts to one walk. Four Larks pitchers combined to pitch a three-hitter.

Hays got a good night from Mackenzie Handel and Joe Betcher, who each drove in a pair of runs. Handel finished 2 for 3 with a run scored, while Betcher was 2 for 5. Ryan Busboom also recorded a pair of hits, driving in one with a run scored.

Tito Andino and Zair Koeiman combined for five runs scored in the one and two holes, respectively.

The two teams are scheduled to wrap up the series with a 7:30 p.m. game Sunday at Larks Park, and Hays begins Jayhawk League play Monday at Dodge City.
