SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Authorities in southwest Missouri say DNA led them to a man suspected of stealing cattle and farm equipment.
The Springfield News-Leader reports (http://bit.ly/15o33mz ) that 67-year-old Howard L. Perryman of Monett is charged in Greene County Circuit Court with two counts of theft and one count of tampering with a motor vehicle. Perryman is being held on a $1 million bond.
A probable-cause statement says DNA obtained from a used paper towel left on the ground near the site of where 13 head of cattle were stolen matched a DNA profile of the defendant. The statement says DNA also allegedly connects the suspect to a vehicle stolen from Jasper County that was recovered from a field in Greene County.
Online court records don't list a lawyer for Perryman.
