Every 60 seconds, Malaria claims a life in Africa. This disease kills approximately 655,000 people each year, most of them children younger than 5.
Malaria is 100 percent preventable and treatable. Imagine No Malaria is an effort by the United Methodist Church to end Malaria deaths in Africa by 2015.
The church and society and missions committees of Hays First United Methodist Church is working to raise funds toward this goal. The church will host a soup lunch at noon Sunday in the dining room at the church at Seventh and Ash. Come in the north door on the alley, and come downstairs. All proceeds will go to the Imagine No Malaria campaign.
For more information, call the church office at (785) 625-3408 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
