There was a trace of precipitation in areas of Kansas Wednesday - but not enough to subside the drought.
About .08 of an inch fell in the Hutchinson area Wednesday through Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Dodge City received a trace of moisture, the service reports.
Meanwhile, drought continues to persist - strengthening its grip in western Kansas. The U.S. Drought Monitor shows the entire state in a drought, with nearly 60 percent of Kansas is in a severe to extreme drought. Short-term dryness led to expansion of the moderate drought designation in the central part of the state.
