HaysMed, part of The University of Kansas Health System, will present 12 Lead EKG Interpretation on March 29 and Advanced 12-Lead EKG on March 30. The programs are jointly provided by HaysMed and The University of Kansas Medical Center Continuing Education and Professional Development and the Area Health Education Center – West. The programs will be held at HaysMed in the Hadley Conference Rooms.

The 12-Lead EKG Interpretation program on March 29 begins at 8:30 with registration and runs from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Topics covered include: limb leads and the precordial leads; normal characteristics of a 12-lead ECG; inferior wall, anterior wall, lateral wall, septal wall, posterior wall, and right ventricular myocardial infarctions on the 12-lead ECG; complications often associated with the various AMI presentations; importance of “serial” ECG’s; imitators of STEMI on the 12-lead ECG.?

The Advanced 12-Lead EKG Interpretation program on March 30 begins at 8:30 with registration and runs from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Topics covered include: systematic approach to reading a 12 lead ECG; of AMI on the ECG; STEMI imitators on the ECG; hemiblock and bundle branch block on the ECG; left and light ventricular hypertrophy on the ECG; right and left atrial enlargement; changes associated with hyper/hypokalemia, hyper/hypocalcemia, and the clinical implications of these conditions; prolonged QT syndrome and describe the potential implications; pericarditis, acute pulmonary embolism, and early repolarization variant; ventricular tachycardia and supraventricular wide tachycardia's the presence of STEMI imitators on the ECG; hemiblock and bundle branch block on the ECG; left and light ventricular hypertrophy on the ECG; right and left atrial enlargement; hyper/hypokalemia, hyper/hypocalcemia, and the clinical implications of these conditions; prolonged QT syndrome and describe the potential implications; pericarditis, acute pulmonary embolism, and early repolarization variant; ventricular tachycardia and supraventricular wide tachycardia's.??The programs are designed for Physicians, PAs, APRN's, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and other interested Healthcare Professionals.??All participants are required to complete and sign a "verification of attendance" form.
