Celebration Community Church raised more than $700 for athletic shoes for needy kids in the Hays community.

Celebration sold nearly 200 tickets to Fort Hays University men's and women's basketball games Feb. 22 against Pittsburg State University at Gross Memorial Coliseum. One-half of the $7 ticket price went to "Kicks for Kids," a charity the church has set up to provide free athletic shoes for needy kids in the Hays community.

School counselors from local elementary schools have been contacted to identify kids in need of shoes. Hibbets Sports in The Mall at Hays will be the outlet for the athletic shoes to be distributed in the near future.

If anyone would like to donate to "Kicks For Kids," they can do so through Celebration Community Church, 5790 230th Ave., Hays.

For more information, call Pastor Kyle Ermoian at Celebration Community Church at (785) 625-5483.
