Nadine Marie Keesling Collins, 92, Salina, formerly of Hays, died Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Salina Regional Health Center.
She was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Colby to Bernard Joseph and Clara T. (Meyers) Rueschhoff. She graduated from Grinnell High School as valedictorian. She served her country as a WAC for several years before attending Brown Mackie College, where she received a secretarial degree.
She married Ray Keesling, who preceded her in death Aug. 28, 1977. She then married Donald R. Collins in June 1988 in Salina. He preceded her in death Jan. 6, 1992. She was a secretary for State Farm Insurance and a homemaker.
She loved being with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, caring for her dog, Candy, and the fine art of calligraphy. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Salina and a longtime member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hays.
Survivors include her sons, Gary Keesling and wife, Maria, Grove, Okla., and Randy Keesling and wife, June, Derby; daughters, Connie Coleman and husband, Tim, Salina, and Denise "DeeDee" Brull and husband, Mike, Hays; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her special caregivers, Brigitte and Ken Augustine and Lyona Thomas of Salina.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Daetwiler and Leona Dell Rueschhoff.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Hays.
There will be a parish vigil service at 6 p.m. Monday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and 9 until 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Retired Priests and Nuns Fund in the Diocese of Salina.
