Hays Medical Center's Center for Health Improvement will host its annual Senior Health and Fitness Day on Wednesday.

The event is in conjunction with the National Senior Health & Fitness Day in more than 1,500 locations across the United States. The theme for this year's event is "Fitness is a Good Move."

The program begins with registration at 8:30 a.m., and the events run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no charge for registration.

The program will cover a wide range of health related topics including life after orthopaedic surgery, Alzheimer's, "cents"ible grocery shopping, walking with confidence and core exercising. There will be a free brunch and door prizes.

"Individuals at all levels of physical fitness are encouraged to participate," said Steph Schaffer, CHI director, in a press release. "Our goal is to make exercise fun, to increase awareness of the benefits of a regular exercise program for older adults, and to encourage all older adults to take advantage of the many health and fitness programs offered in their communities."

Registration by today is encouraged. For more information, or to register, call (785) 623-5900.
