Beginning at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, Celebration Community Church will host a Souper Bowl of Caring fundraiser for Haitian earthquake relief.
The church staff, along with several small groups within the church, are making a variety of homemade soups that will be served in the church's gymnasium.
A freewill offering will be taken and will be earmarked to be sent to orphanages in Haiti.
The church has already collected more than $2,500 in a special offering, and Pastor Kyle Ermoian said he hopes the Souper Bowl of Caring will raise a comparable amount.
Those who cannot make the event but would still like to donate can send their tax-deductible donation to Celebration Community Church, 5790 230th Ave., Hays, KS 67601, and write "Haitian Relief" in the memo field.
The U.S. Senate passed legislation that allows taxpayers to deduct cash donations to Haiti earthquake relief on their 2009 tax returns instead of having to wait to 2010.
