JUNCTION CITY -- The Hays Larks dropped a non-league road game, 6-5, to the Junction City Generals on Saturday. The Larks (16-11) trailed 5-0 after six innings when the Generals scored five runs in the fourth.
Hays countered with three in the top of the seventh. Junction City scored one in the bottom of the seventh and Hays tallied two in the top of the eighth. Andrew Heck homered for the Larks, his fourth of the summer.
Hays used five pitchers. Derrick Sempel started and took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits in three innings. Ace Andrew Heck pitched the eighth and permitted a run. The Larks return home today against Dodge City in a 7 p.m. start.
