The Senior Social normally on the third Thursday each month will not take place this month because the ninth annual National Senior Health and Fitness Day is planned for May 26 at the Center for Health Improvement, 2500 Canterbury.
Plan to spend the morning with your friends and family, and come early to enjoy visiting over a cup of coffee. Registration is 8:30 to 9 a.m. If you can't make it early, plan to join us when you can. We've heard it's better late than never.
A great day is planned with interesting topics covering the health and fitness of seniors. Also, there will be a free healthy brunch mid-morning. Try to RSVP by Friday so they will know how many to prepare for (food and handouts); call (785) 623-5900.
Menu of activities for the ninth annual National Senior Health and Fitness Day include: tips on diabetes, an energizing chair workout, making a healthy trail mix and brunch. Following brunch, learn the difference between general and medical fitness, and the one-step-at-a-time 10-week walking program.
There will be entertainment by the Shooting Stars Square Dance Club -- dance for your health. Door prizes and final comments will take place around 12:45 p.m.
Everyone is welcome. Enter at the southeast entrance of the fitness center.
Oh, by the way -- we encourage you to bring a jacket because each person's comfort level might differ.
