Eleanor Stoecklein was recognized for 12 years of service as a Senior Companion at the March inservice meeting in Hays.
Stoecklein provides in-home support to older people in Hays, helping them remain independent in their homes.
Senior Companions must be at least 60 years of age or older and be willing to make a commitment of serving 15 hours each week.
They are provided benefits that include a tax-free stipend, transportation allowance, accident and liability insurance, paid orientation, monthly training, sick leave, vacation, holidays and recognition. There is no cost to the clients or their families for the services provided.
The Senior Companion Program is sponsored by Fort Hays State University and funded by the Corporation for National & Community Service, Washington. Ellis County also provides support to the Programs.
