The Hays Larks defeated the Colorado Sox 7-3 and 5-2 on the road Saturday.
Hays moved to 32-11 after the end of the regular season. The Larks were rained out Sunday and will play an alumni game Tuesday at Larks Park before starting play in the National Baseball Congress World Series this weekend in Wichita. Start time for the alumni game is 7 p.m. The Larks are scheduled to play the 7 p.m. game Saturday in Wichita.
In the first game, Nick Goza threw five scoreless innings for the victory. He struck out six batters and walked three. The Larks had 11 hits and two doubles, one each by Jake Placzek and Desmond Roberts. The Larks had two runs in the third, one in the fourth, three in the fifth and one in the sixth. Colorado scored all three runs in the sixth.
In the second contest, the Larks collected one run in the third and two each in the fifth and sixth. Ross Vance started in a team pitched game and allowed two runs (one earned) with six hits allowed. Kyle Leroy, Logan DeRosier and Graylon Brown each pitched a scoreless inning.
The Larks had eight hits, seven players had one hit and Spencer Neve collected a double. Brent Gillespie and Ty Gilmore each had two RBIs.
