Walking by faith, living by faith, fighting the good fight of faith and keeping the faith are different ways to express the same thing. That "same" thing is learning to trust God based on his word -- the Holy Bible. Scripture tells us God's word is settled in heaven, and his will is the same here on earth as it is in heaven. God gives us real hope, hope that really is the anchor of one's soul.
Getting a grip on the truth of God's word gives us the ability to succeed in life. Living by faith is for those who really want to live their lives to please God. "Without faith it's impossible to please God." (Hebrews 11:6)
Faith grows as knowledge of the word increases. "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God." (Hebrews 11:1)
The good news is, the faith we have is God's -- he gives it to us when we become a child of God, accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord. "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
We grow in relationships when we hear heartfelt words from a friend or family member. It is difficult to understand someone when you do not know him or her. The apostle Paul wrote approximately one-third of the New Testament and a defining moment in his writings is "I want to know Christ." (Philippians 3:10)
One of the meanings of the word "know" is "understand." You understand someone and you get an idea of where they are coming from, and what they want to do and will do.
I know about Abraham Lincoln, but I do not know him. I can read about him, the decisions he made and can learn some things about him, but I do not know him personally, nor do I understand him. The faith God gives us so freely is faith to become acquainted intimately with the one true God.
It very well might be time to become acquainted with God, and He really makes it quite simple -- simply open your heart to Christ and you'll begin to live life with a bit more understanding. That understanding translates into peace, spirit, soul and body.
God's best to you.
