Special to The Hays Daily News

The St. Fidelis Catholic Church Centennial History Committee, Victoria, is looking for old photographs or other artifacts related to the construction of "The Cathedral of the Plains" 100 years ago. If anyone has any memorabilia of parish activities, any articles of interest such as souvenirs, etc. during the time period of 1900 to 2000, the committee would like to use them for the history book being written.

All pictures will be returned to the owner undamaged. Please write your name, address and phone number on the back of each individual picture. It also is important to have an approximate date when the picture was taken and a description of the activity it represents.

Pictures or articles can be brought or sent to the St. Fidelis Parish office, 601 10th St., Victoria, KS 67671, or call (785) 735-2777 to make arrangements for someone to pick them up.

The history book will be part of a church directory that will be printed in time for the dedication of the Cathedral of the Plains Centennial Celebration, which will take place Aug. 28, 2011.

During the 2011 celebration, the centennial committee also is planning to display items pertaining to the construction of the church, items used in early day Masses or anything associated with the church that might be of interest. If anyone has an item they are willing to donate or loan to the church for this purpose, they can contact the parish office.

Details for the May 30, 2011, first ringing of the bells celebration and the Aug. 28, 2011, dedication celebration can be found on the parish website, www.StFidelisChurch.com.
