The first Senior Social for 2008 was Feb. 21 at the Center for Health Improvement at Hays Medical Center.
Harry Watts welcomed the movie-goers to the social, introductions were made and he gave an explanation of the purpose the senior advisory committee hopes to fulfill with these socials -- an opportunity for seniors to get out for a couple of hours to have fun with other seniors, a time to visit, to laugh, to have a change of pace. It's good for our health, our emotions and our peace of mind. Get's us out of the rut, the same ole-same ole, couch potato-life that is so easy to get into.
Watts gave an interesting history of comedian Red Skelton. We all remember and loved him. We settled back with a bag of popcorn and lights turned down to watch the Red Skelton "The Lost Episodes" DVD.
What fun -- such clean, honest jokes. We laughed out loud and enjoyed the show.
There will not be a social in March, since everyone is busy with Easter and Holy Week.
It was decided to wait until April 17 to continue the Thursday night Senior Socials with bingo night. Mark your calendar and watch for more information about the second Senior Social for 2008 on this page.
