HaysMed will host Joseph (Joey) M. Scaletta who recently returned from Sierra Leone where he helped treat patients with the Ebola virus disease. The program will be held Monday, April 13 from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the Hadley Conference Rooms at HaysMed.
Scaletta will be discussing the magnitude of the Ebola Crisis in West Africa. He will also outline the educational requirements to volunteer for caring for Ebola patients and well as the challenges in providing safe, effective healthcare to suspected/confirmed Ebola patients.
Scaletta is the Director of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s Healthcare Associated Infections program. He holds a Masters of Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He is the current President of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control Wichita Chapter and has been board certified in Infection Control since 2007.
The target audience is registered RNs, LPNs, APRNs, Respiratory Therapists, social workers, PTs, OTs and other interested healthcare professionals. The program is approved for ONE (1) hour of continuing education credit for nurses, respiratory therapists and EMT certification. Paperwork will be provided to submit to KOTA and KPTA for approval.
