Special to The Hays Daily News

Julia Jordan and Rachel Anne Raat, Hays, were honored at the annual seminary graduation of the Salina Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 13.

The young women completed the four-year program, which required them to attend 6 a.m. classes each day before going to their regular high school classes. These early-morning classes were taught by volunteer Jan Dysart under the direction of Sterling Knapp, stake president and seminary and institute coordinator.

To graduate, each student had to pass courses in church history and doctrine, as well as show a mastery of Scriptures in the Old and New Testaments, the Book of Mormon and other standard works of the Latter-day Saints.

Certificates of graduation were presented to 15 students at a ceremony at the Salina Stake Center.
