Trego sends two to 3-2-1A state finale

RUSSELL — Both singles players from the WaKeeney-Trego Community High School boys’ tennis team are headed to state.
Freshman Isaiah Fabrizius and senior Jacob Weber finished second and third, respectively, at the Class 3-2-1A regional in Russell on Friday.
Fabrizius (21-3) won 8-5 in the first round, then 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. He then won 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 to reach the championship match, before falling 6-0, 6-0.
Weber (14-7) lost in the semifinals, but won his third-place match, 6-2, 6-1.
The Class 3-2-1A state tournament is Friday and Saturday at the Wichita-Riverside Tennis Complex, hosted by Wichita-Independent.
