VICTORIA -- In the Knights' homecoming game, Victoria snapped a two-game losing streak to Ness City, and in the process ended a run of 15 straight wins for the Eagles --  last year's Eight-Man Division I state champion. Sam Ottley rushed for five touchdowns as the Knights moved to 3-0 for the first time since 2009. Victoria, ranked No. 5 in Eight-Man II in the statewide media poll, travels to Claflin this week to take on Central Plains, while Ness City, No. 5 in Division I, hosts Jetmore-Hodgeman County.

La Crosse -- In the Leoaprds' previous two wins, La Crosse has got it down with a heavy dose of junior Jack Garcia and the pass game. This week, it was the Leopards' defense and run game. Garcia threw just five passes while eight different Leopard backs posted 325 total rushing yards and six scores. The Leopard defense had two interceptions returned for touchdowns. Senior fullback Lucas Moeder carried the ball nine times for 142 yards and three TDs, while Garcia added 80 yards on six carries and a score. Senior Taylor Yohe and junior Andrew Jay each recorded a Pick 6 for 45 and 49 yards, respectively. La Crosse hosts Plainville (1-2) this week in the HDN Area Game of the Week.

Nick Lehmkuhl finished with 93 yards on 19 carries with a pair of TDs for the Redmen, while Kody Molzahn threw for 135 yards and a score on 13 passing attempts. He connected six times to three different receivers. For Oberlin, Chris Anderson had 18 carries for 60 yards. Dayton Dreher had the Red Devils' lone touchdown on 13 carries for 55 yards. Smith Center plays at unbeaten Phillipsburg this week, while Oberlin travels to Norton (1-2).

Garrett Krueger had one rushing and one passing TD. He carried the ball six times for 20 yards, and threw for 58.

Richard Zeiters, the Trojans' fullback, had 16 carries for 67 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback Brett Pinkerton threw for 137 yards, but had three interceptions.

The Longhorns, ranked No. 3 in Eight-Man Division II, travel to unbeaten Beloit-St. John's/Tipton for its first official District 5 contest. Logan-Palco is part of the district, but is not posteason eligible.
