The La Crosse High School football team wrapped up an unbeaten district title by shutting out Medicine Lodge in the first half and led 40-0 at the break on Friday night, then won 46-12 to move to 9-0.

The Leopard offense posted long TD runs from Marshall Jay and Andrew Jay in the second quarter, and Jack Garcia threw a TD pass and ran a punt back for a TD.

Andrew Jay had two carries for 56 yards, one a 54-yard score. Marshall Jay had scoring runs of 86 yards and 27 yards. Garcia finished 2 of 5 passing for 92 yards and a pair of scores.

The Leopards play host to Plainville in the first round of the Class 2-1A playoff Friday.

Plainville (5-4) defeated Washington County 41-12 on Friday night to earn the runner-up spot behind Smith Center. Smith Center (7-2) wrapped up its season with a 64-0 victory against winless Republic County.

On Thursday, Oberlin disposed of Leoti-Wichita County 62-14 to secure its playoff berth. The Red Devils got three TD runs in the first half from quarterback/running back Dayton Dreher and three TD runs from Chris Anderson and a long TD pass from Dreher to Anderson. Dreher finished with six carries for 134 yards and Anderson had nine touches for 132 yards.

The Red Devils will travel to take on 8-1 Meade on Friday. Smith Center hosts 4-5 Sterling, the team that ended Smith Center's season a year ago.
