All-Diamond Classic team selected

The Western Plains Diamond Classic’s all-tournament team was announced this weekend. Four players from Hays High School made the team.

Senior pitcher Tyler Wooldridge, senior pitcher Chase Young, senior infielder/pitcher Hayden Hutchison and junior catcher Chandler Rule represented Hays High.

The tournament champion, Goddard, had the most representatives with five.

Senior shortstop Austin White was named the tournament’s most valuable player, and junior first baseman Collin Nevil, senior third baseman Colton Turner, senior catcher Jacob Baca and senior pitcher Quintin Dougherty were named to the team.

Colby senior first baseman/pitcher Braden Sager and Goodland senior shortstop/pitcher Ryan Hillmer were selected to the team, and Salina Central had two representatives — sophomore JW Maldaner and junior Trent Earley.
