Two TMP wrestlers place third in Norton

NORTON -- Two Thomas More Prep-Marian wrestlers came away with third-place finishes Saturday at the J.R. Durham Invitational in Norton.

Tucker Rhoades finished third at 113 pounds, pinning Oakley's Reilly Ritter in his final match of the day. At 120 pounds, Ricky Hockett defeated Rawlins County's Hunter Leibbrandt for third place via an 8-7 decision.

Host Norton, the No. 1 ranked team in Class 3-2-1A, took second place behind Garden City, the No. 1 ranked team in Class 6A. Garden City scored 187, while Norton scored 149.5. Oakley finished third with 87 and TMP 12th at 33.5.

Garden City took first-place finishes in five weight classes, while Norton did not have an individual title winner.

Hoxie's Tristan Porsch won to remain unbeaten at 120 pounds. He defeated Norton's Ethan Ross in the title match.

At 126 pounds, Rawlins County's Macrae Migchelbrink defeated Cozad's Jacob Hoffman for first.

Smith Center's Clint Rogers took top honors at 152 pounds with a 6-2 decision against Garden City's Jesse Nunez. Rogers also is unbeaten this season.
