NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- The Hays Senior Legion baseball is 1-1 in tournament play in North Platte, Neb.

The Eagles lost Friday, 4-2, to JC Brager, a team from Lincoln, Neb., then defeated Gering (Neb.) 4-0 in six innings Saturday.

Hays plays today at 9 a.m. against Fort Morgan, Colo., then again in the afternoon against another team to be determined.

In Friday's loss to open the tournament, Casey Sedbrook took the loss in 5 1/3 innings pitched. He allowed three runs (one in the third, two in the fifth) in the effort before being relieved by Tyler Wooldridge in the sixth.

Hays scored its two runs in the seventh inning in a rally effort. Dan Bittel drove in both runs in the inning on his third hit of the game as he finished 3 for 3.

In the win Saturday, Josh Heifner pitched all six innings in picking up the win for the Eagles. Hays blasted out 11 hits, three coming from Jarrett Sanders and two from Austin Unrein. Unrein had a two-run home run in the first inning to put Hays up 2-0. He had three RBIs on the game, along with Sanders. Sanders had an RBI triple in the sixth. He later came around to score on an RBI single from Trevor Henningsen to end the game via the run-rule.
