DODGE CITY -- For the third straight summer, the Hays Eagles Legion baseball team is headed to the Class AAA state tournament.

The Eagles, the back-to-back state champions, captured another Zone championship Tuesday with a 4-2 win against Dodge City. Hays (30-8) now will begin play in Pittsburg on Wednesday. Dodge City and Garden City were set to play today for the Zone's second spot at state.

Kade Parker, who will play baseball at Barton Community College next season, picked up a complete-game (nine innings) victory. He gave up two runs (one earned) on just two Dodge City hits. The left-hander struck out nine with just two walks.

Hays scored a run in the third, fourth, sixth and ninth innings, but did commit four errors.

Marcus Altman, Parker, Zack Legleiter and Kaden Rohr each recorded two hits. Altman drove in two runs. Altman, Parker and Henningsen had doubles, while Rohr had a triple in the ninth.

The state tournament, this year in Pittsburg, runs July 30 to Aug. 3.
