The Fort Hays State University baseball team used extra innings Sunday to claim the rubber match against Truman State (Mo.) University.

Playing for the final time at home this season, FHSU won 7-6 in 10 innings against the Bulldogs at Larks Park.

The win came on two errors against Truman State in the inning. The winning run came from second on an infield ground ball with the help of the errors.

The win pushes the Tigers to 23-18 overall and 19-17 in the MIAA, where FHSU sits seventh in the standings.

In a see-saw battle Sunday, Truman State (10-31, 9-29) took a 2-0 lead in the third, only to see FHSU take the lead in the fourth with a two-run home run for Shane Wade, one of his two hits and three RBIs.

Then, each team plated three runs in the sixth to knot it at six for the next three innings before the Tigers' run came across in the 10th.

Michael Edlefson moved to 4-1 with the win in relief of starter Jesse Hart.

Hart started the sixth inning, but didn't record an out before Edlefson came to finish the game. He allowed two runs in the fifth (neither earned) with four strikeouts to two walks.

Sam Thornton had a three-hit day for FHSU with one run driven in. Ryan Busboom scored two runs, finishing 2 for 4.

The Tigers close out the regular season Wednesday at 1 p.m. in a doubleheader against Northwest Missouri State University in
Maryville, Mo., and then wait for the rest of the conference to finishing playing before they know if they are in the MIAA postseason tournament.

The top eight make the MIAA field.
