EUREKA, Mo. -- Fort Hays State University junior golfer Trey Herman, a graduate of Hays High School, finished in a tie for seventh place at the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Regional on Wednesday at Par 72 Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Mo.
Herman shot a 2-under 70 in the third and final round to finish with a 5-over 221 for the tournament. Herman was the third-best individual not on an automatic qualifying team, but will see his season end as only the top two advance to the NCAA Division II Championships.
Herman finished the season second in the MIAA point standings, the highest for a Tiger since joining the conference in 2006.
Nebraska-Kearney's Michael Colgate was the individual champion with a 4-under 212 for the tournament, three ahead of second place. Colgate and Southeastern Oklahoma State's Marcos Sevilla (1-over 217, T3) are the two individual qualifiers. Malone University, Central Missouri, Saginaw Valley State and Central Oklahoma all qualified for the championships as teams.
