Tiger women third in season opener

AXTELL, Neb. -- The Fort Hays State University women's golf team finished third at the season-opening University of Nebraska-Kearney Invitational at Awari Dunes Golf Course. Senior Carmen Thompson shot 77-83 to finish third in the two-day tournament. Sophomore Sami Hobson also tied for third with 81-79. Freshman Megan DeWerff went 91-81 to tie for 12th, while freshman Natalie Bethel went 86-94 to tie for 22nd. Freshman Kaycee Beilman tied for 26th with a 92-93.

Fort Hays shot 671 to finish third in the seven-team tournament. Missouri Western shot a 654 to win the competition.
