PITTSBURG -- Fort Hays State University guard Craig Nicholson hit a pair of free throws with six seconds to play, and Pittsburg State's game-tying attempt missed, and the Tigers went on for a 78-75 victory Saturday.

The Tigers now are 16-3 overall and 7-3 in MIAA play, and have won eight straight since a loss to Northwest Missouri State.

Carson Konrade led the Tigers on Saturday. He hit five 3s in scoring 17 points, while Nicholson and James Fleming each notched 15. Jake Stoppel added 10, and grabbed 11 rebounds. FHSU was 15 of 24 from the free throw line, but had to hang on late after leading by eight at halftime, and having a double digit lead at one point.

The Tigers take on Emporia State University in a 7:30 p.m. start Thursday.
