WARRENSBURG, Mo. — Tiger senior Maddie Holub threw a one-hit shutout Sunday in the first game against University of Central Missouri.

The Tigers won 7-0, but then fell 10-2 in the nightcap.

Fort Hays, ranked No. 18 in NCAA Division II and No. 1 in the Central Region rankings, moved to 38-8 overall and 18-4 in the MIAA with the split.

Central Missouri is 23-19, 13-11.

In Game 1 Sunday, Holub struck out 12 batters in the complete game to move to 22-1 as the Tigers extended their school record for number of wins to 38.

Holub also homered twice in the contest, connecting for two RBIs in the second inning and on a solo shot in the fourth.

She finished 3 for 4 with three runs driven in and two scored. Amanda Vauple had two hits with a run scored and Tori Beltz was 3 for 3 with an RBI.

In the nightcap, freshman Paxton Duran (14-7) gave up all 10 runs (all earned) on two Central Missouri hits, while the Tigers managed only two unearned runs in the fourth inning and were held to just one hit, a single by Duran.

FHSU plays Tuesday at 2 p.m. at University of Nebraska-Kearney in Kearney, Neb., before closing the regular season at home against Lincoln (Mo.) University on Friday at 4 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
