Tigers pick up four wins in tourney

DENVER -- The Fort Hays State University volleyball swept action at the Johnson & Wales Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

The Tigers picked up 3-0 wins against Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) University and Bethany College on Friday, then 3-0 wins against Southwestern College and Johnson & Wales (Colo.) On Saturday.

The four wins push the Tigers to 14-5.

Friday, the Tigers defeated Embry-Riddle, 25-11, 25-16, 25-17 with 10 kills from Madison Schwartz and 20 assists from Kayla Zoglman in the effort. Makenzie Wienman recorded 19 digs in the match.

Against Bethany, a 25-18, 25-17, 25-16 win, Zoglman had 18 assists, and Lauren Lorenz had 19. Wienman came up with 16 digs.

The Tigers defeated Southwestern 25-19, 25-20, 25-18 and Johnson & Wales, 25-12, 25-10, 25-14, on Saturday.

The Tigers next play Friday against Washburn University at Gross Memorial Coliseum. Match time is 6 p.m.
