Weekend results in a pair of losses for Tiger volleyball

The Fort Hays State University volleyball team forced Game 4 with an exciting 32-30 victory in Game 3 Saturday against Southwest Baptist University.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, that's all they had left. Southwest Baptist claimed a 25-9 victory in Game 4 on Saturday at Gross Memorial Coliseum, capping a 3-1 victory over the Tigers. Southwest Baptist won, 26-24, 25-20, 30-32, 25-9.
The setback capped a two-loss weekend for the Tigers, who lost to Missouri Southern, 3-2 on Friday night at GMC, 25-20, 24-26, 26-24, 18-25, 12-15. Fort Hays is now 7-25 on the season, and 3-15 in MIAA play, heading into the final week of the season. The Tigers will host Washburn University on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at GMC, then host Emporia State at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon at GMC.
Against Southern on Friday, Lilian Rezende collected 15 kills, with 32 and 25 assists coming from Whitney Liggett and Lindsey Larson, repsectively. Missouri Southern moved to 13-17 on the year and 6-10 in the MIAA with the win.
In the loss Saturday, Morgan Witzel collected 17 kills to lead the way for the Tigers, while Rezende finished with 12 as the Tigers hit .163 as a team.
The loss was the seventh straight for Fort Hays, which hasn't won a match since Oct. 21, a 3-2 MIAA win over Missouri Western. Washburn and Emporia bring the No. 3 and No. 4 rankings and a combined eight losses in the region into this week's matchups.
