Tiger wrestlers go 2-1 in Kearney duals

KEARNEY, Neb. -- The Fort Hay State University wrestling team finished 2-1 at the University of Nebreaska-Kearney Duals on Saturday.
The Tigers fell to No. 10 Colorado Mesa University 21-12, but then blasted their next two opponents, defeating Hastings College 44-6 and Northern State University 31-7.
FHSU, ranked No. 15 in NCAA Division II, trailed Colorado Mesa 6-0 early and never made up the difference. Fort Hays junior C.J. Napier, ranked No. 4 at 141 pounds, and 165-pound junior Sam Thoman each recorded decisions, with Thoman's coming against Chester Granard -- ranked No. 8 at 165.
Junior Tanner Kriss, No. 4 at 197 pounds, scored half of FHSU's points with a pin against Jordan Passehl in the first period.
The Tigers collected four pins and a technical fall against Hastings College.
