Tiger women 6th, men 7th at MIAA

PITTSBURG -- The Fort Hays State University women's cross country team finished sixth and the men seventh Saturday at the MIAA Championships at Pittsburg State Unviersity.

The Tiger women scored 163 points. Southwest Baptist University ran away with the team title with four runners in the top 10.

Ramsey McCarter led the way for the Tigers. She finished 22nd in 22 minutes, 55 seconds on the 6K course. Marie Schaller finished 25th (23:03), Micki Krzesinski 34th (23:18), Kylie Gaughan 42nd (23:33) and Carman Hill 45th (23:39).

The Tiger men, last year's conference champion, scored 153 points with two top-20 runners. Cory Keehn was all-MIAA for the second straight season as he finished 10th. The defending MIAA individual champion finished the 8K in 25:12. Jonny Bernasky finished 18th in 25:34. Isaac Mills was 28th (25:57), Ryan Hopkins 46th (26:23) and Nathan Purdue 55th (26:39).

Central Missouri won the team title by one point over Missouri Southern with 56 points. Adam Volkert won the individual title with a 24:35.

Fort Hays' next action is Nov. 9 at the Central Regional in Sioux Falls, S.D.
