CONCORDIA -- The Hays High School girls' basketball team had no trouble with Concordia on Saturday, winning 66-24 in nonleague action.
With the victory, Hays High (14-4) locked up the No. 2 seed in its Class 5A sub-state.
HHS, which stretched its winning streak to six games, originally was supposed to play Concordia on Feb. 3, but the game was postponed until Saturday due to snow.
Hays High -- ranked seventh in Class 5A -- played the night before, a 48-43 home win over Garden City, then traveled for an afternoon game against the Panthers.
The Indians used a 13-0 run in both the first quarter and second quarter to take control. HHS led 17-6 after the first quarter and 36-13 at halftime.
Hays High took a 55-19 lead after three quarters, and a continuous clock was used in the fourth quarter, with a 30-point lead.
Junior Taylor Herman led Hays High with 12 points, and junior Emily Braun came off the bench to score a career-high 10 points for HHS, which had a season-high in points. The Indians previously had 64 in a win at Liberal.
Sophomore Megan James led Concordia (2-17) with nine points.
