Hays High softball sweeps Salina South

SALINA -- Freshman Hannah Hearld tossed a no-hitter in the opener and junior Katelyn Schumacher pitched a complete game in the nightcap, as the Hays High School softball team swept Salina South on Friday.
Hays High (8-0) won the opener 2-1, then took the second game 8-3.
In Game 1, Hays High trailed 1-0 after four innings, but Schumacher hit a two-run homer in the fifth to give the Indians the lead.
Hearld (5-0) finished with four walks and three strikeouts.
In Game 2, Schumacher went the distance to improve to 3-0. She allowed five hits, with two walks and five strikeouts.
Senior Paige Lunsford had two RBIs, including a solo homer for the Indians in Game 2, and junior Courtney Storer had three hits and two RBIs. Also getting two RBIs was senior Makenzie Flaska, who hit a triple. Junior Shea Briggs had three hits and two runs scored, while Schumacher had two hits, with two runs scored and an RBI.
