Indian swim team ninth at Topeka Invitational

TOPEKA — The Hays High School girls’ swimming team took ninth out of 11 teams on Thursday at the Topeka High Invitational, its third meet of the season.
Freshman Ana Goodlett was the Indians’ top individual finisher, taking seventh in the 200 IM with a time of 2 minutes, 49.83 seconds. Goodlett also finished ninth in the 100 backstroke in 1:14.20.
The only other top 10 individual finisher was senior Mackenzie Lewis, who took ninth in the 500 free in 7:15.97.
The 400 free relay team of Goodlett, Lewis, junior Emily McPherson and senior Alexa Steinkuhler finished eighth in 4:35.42, and the 200 medley relay team of Goodlett, McPherson, Lewis and junior Ashley Cossaart took 10th in 2:23.64.
Hays High finished ahead of Leavenworth and Junction City on Thursday. Lawrence Free State won the meet, followed by Washburn Rural and Bishop Miege.
The Indians will travel to a meet at Salina South next Thursday.
