Indian swimmers seventh in Salina

SALINA --  The Hays High School girls' swim team took seventh out of 10 teams at Salina South on Thursday. The Indians finished with 125 points, while Great Bend won the meet with 469 points. Garden City took second with 420 points, followed by Salina Central with 354 points.

Hays High's best results came from its relay teams. The 200 free relay team of juniors Lexie Schaben, Ashley Cossaart, Emily McPherson and senior Mackenzie Lewis took sixth with a time of 2 minutes, 4.42 seconds. The 400 free relay team of Cossaart, McPherson, Lewis and freshman Ana Goodlett took fifth with a time of 4:36.02.

Goodlett also took seventh place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:16.53, and 10th in the 200 IM in 2:47.49. The only other top 10 finisher at the meet was Lewis in the 50 free with a time of 30.32 seconds, good for ninth.

The Indians, now four meets into the spring swim season, will next compete at Manhattan High School on Tuesday, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
