HHS swim team takes eighth

The Hays High girls’ swimming team took eighth out of 12 teams at its final regular season meet Saturday in El Dorado.
Junior Courtney Hess was the top swimmer for the Indians. She finished third in the 200-yard freestyle in two minutes and 19.87 seconds and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in six minutes and 26.81 seconds.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team, made up of Hess, sophomore Alexa Steinkuhler, freshman Emily McPherson and junior Arin Straub, finished fourth in a time of 4:46.91. The Indians will compete Tuesday at the WAC championships in Garden City.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
