SALINA — The Hays High School boys' tennis team competed Friday at the Salina South Invitational and Saturday at the Garden City Invitational.

On Friday, Hays High finished seventh as a team with Cody Brown finishing ninth at No. 1 singles.

Brown finished 3-1 with his one loss to Abilene's Matt Barlow. Brown defeated players from Manhattan, Andover and Salina South.

At No. 2 singles, Bayron Rivera finished 0-3 and in 14th place.

The No. 1 doubles team of Andrew McGinnis and Nicholas Glassman finished in 10th place, going 2-2 for the day with wins against Salina South and Manhattan.

At No. 2 doubles, Austin Berry and Mikey Ploutz were 0-4 in 16th place.

In Garden City on Saturday, Brown finished fourth place at No. 1 singles with a 2-2 record. Brown won against Meade and Scott City, falling to Dodge City and Garden City.

Sam Krug played at No. 2 singles, finishing 1-3 for sixth place with a win against Scott City.

McGinnis and Rivera teamed up at No. 1 doubles to finish fifth with a 2-2 mark and wins against Scott City and Colby.

At No. 2 doubles, Berry and Ploutz were 2-2, and finished fifth.

The next varsity action for Hays High is Friday at Colby.
