The Kansas State University football put the finishing touches on its 2014 schedule Monday with the much-anticipated announcement a home game against national runner-up Auburn has been switched to Thursday, Sept. 18.

The non-conference matchup completes a home-and-home contract with the Tigers dating back to the Ron Prince coaching era. The Wildcats opened their 2007 season under Prince with a 23-13 loss at Auburn.

K-State's seven-game home slate includes non-conference visits from Stephen F. Austin in the Aug. 30 season opener, the Auburn game and a Sept. 27 date with Texas-El Paso. The Wildcats also play host to Texas Tech (Oct. 4), Texas (Oct. 25), Oklahoma State (Nov. 1) and Kansas (Nov. 29) in the Big 12.

They play an early league opener on Sept. 6 at Iowa State and also travel to Oklahoma (Oct. 18), TCU (Nov. 8), West Virginia (Nov. 20) and Baylor in the Dec. 6 regular-season finale.

"We are excited about our seven-game home schedule for 2014," K-State athletic director John Currie said in a press release. "Following our record-setting attendance this past season, our fans will have a 2014 slate that ranks among the best in school history."

The West Virginia game also is on a Thursday night and the Iowa State game was moved to early September to avoid back-to-back open dates. The Wildcats have byes on Sept. 13, Oct. 11 and Oct. 15.

The Auburn game will be nationally televised by ESPN, but game times, ticket information and promotional schedules will be announced in the coming weeks, according to the K-State release. Season tickets go on sale March 3.

K-State has sold out 13 straight home games.
