Eagles win one, lose one at tourney

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- The Hays Senior Legion Eagles baseball team earned a win and took a loss Thursday in the second day of the Blue Springs, Mo. Wood Bat Touranment.
The Eagles defeated Blue Valley Northwest 5-0, than lost to the host team, Fike 499, in their second game of the day, 2-1.
Action continues today through Sunday.
Against Blue Valley Northwest, Tyler Wooldridge (7-0) pitched a complete game shutout with three walks and six strikeouts. He allowed just two hits. Riley Kaus finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs. The Eagles posted four runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach.
In the loss to Fike 499, Josh Heifner suffered his first loss of the season as he pitched all six innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Heifner dropped to 8-1 on the summer.
Casey Sedbrook was 2 for 3 with a double, and Clayton Basgall scored the Eagles' lone run in the first inning on an RBI from Sedbrook.
The Eagles move to 36-7 on the year heading into the third day of the 32-team tournament today.
